could be fined $100,000 for the first offense of defying the recommendations
from Washington bureaucrats in treating a patient—and jailed for the second
offense. Sending data to federal bureaucrats for immediate "advice" based on
Comparative Effectiveness Research is, he says, the meaning of "meaningful
use" of health information technology.

Will 46% of physicians, as stated by an Investors Business Daily poll, quit
practicing when ObamaCare goes into effect? Or will even more quit, once the
penalties described by Dr. Janda kick in?

PUBLIC COMMENT DEADLINE: Wed., November 3, 2010

Please speak up. The proposed national government health surveillance will be used to control your doctors. Your private medical, prescription, mental and behavioral data will be used without consent for rationing-based research to rationalize rationing.

The Stimulus bill mandates Electronic Medical Records and other Health IT systems by 2014. Doctors who fails to implement interoperable (online accessible) EMRs pay cuts from Medicare. The only way Drs. can say NO is to opt-out of Medicare (not a bad idea!)

The cost of compliance is huge. The Office of the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) predicts 50,000 new jobs to ensure health care providers implement electronic medical record systems, according to POLITICO. Thirty-four (34) percent of "health care providers" (doctors? hospitals?) are using full EMRS and 16% have a partial system; 29% are evaluating the technology and 20 percent haven't considered it yet. (Politico, 10/26/10)

CCHC SUGGESTION: You may choose to just reference the table on which they are asking you to make comments, but then ignore it and make other comments. See several options below.

The title of the 3-page document to use for reporting in their preferred format is: Nationwide Health Information Network (NW-HIN) Governance Roles and Responsibilities.

HOWEVER, instead of filling out their form, consider sending an email with general comments about the impact of the proposed government-imposed national health data system. Consider the following for inclusion:

There are no consent requirements. Your private medical and other data will be placed in the government's national health info network without your consent.
Under HIPAA, 2.2 million entities will have electronic access to your data without consent.
Individual rights under Fourth Amendment will be violated. Government search and seizure of papers, houses, affects, and persons will be enabled without consent or search warrant.
Personal and medical privacy will be broadly and widely infringed.
Government monitoring (and control) of you and your doctors will be enabled through the system.
Under ObamaCare doctors can be prosecuted for providing treatment that the government defines as "fraud, waste, and abuse." There are no definitions in law. "Data Analysis Techniques Increasingly Important in Detecting Health Care Fraud," (BNA Health IT Law & Industry Report, October 25, 2010 - subscription required)
All of your data can be LINKED into one comprehensive record (no escape from their eyes).
Unconsented RESEARCH is enabled through electronic access to your data (as authorized by so-called HIPAA "privacy" rule).
Using access to treatment data, government agencies will attempt to control your doctor through use of financial, licensure, and other penalties if your doctor does not follow government-issued treatment protocols. (treatment protocols and payment restrictions coming from new ObamaCare entities)
Patient trust, and patient willingness to divulge information to doctors, will go the way of the dinosaur.
They are changing the name of the surveillance & tracking system (from Nationwide Health Information Network to what? Some euphemistic title that better hides the purpose??):

Wow, hard to imagine that the election is only a week away. Whatever the final outcome it is certain to be a very big gain for the Republicans, not only in Congress but in the states and local governments as well. All of the credit -- all of it -- goes to the great awakening and mobilization of ordinary Americans under the Tea Party banner. The Republican brand is still held in low esteem by most voters. The ONLY reason these voters are willing to vote Republican is in the hope that the party has been fundamentally changed by this awakening.

I remember in 1994, I was taking my daughter on a tour of college campuses in Virginia and North Carolina. We had just got done at Duke when the election results started coming in. The depth of the wave was evident as we listened to the local results on the car radio. Republicans were winning everything, from town council to county commissioners to state-wide races to congressional seats. This was in areas that hadn't elected a Republican since Reconstruction.

That year, too, was driven by a tidal wave of ordinary Americans who were afraid of what Democratic majorities were doing to the country, though at that time there was no national identity for the movement. Peter Jennings on ABC called it a temper tantrum by voters - unruly children who didn't understand what their betters were doing for them.

This year President Obama is already providing the narrative. He is attributing this wave to people who can't think straight because they are afraid. The parallels are striking.

The elite may not have learned anything in the intervening 16 years, but I hope the rest of us have. I was running CAHI at the time, and after the election our funding dried up. Our funders all said they had spent a lot of money on the election and now that the Republicans were in charge, they had nothing to worry about. They walked away just when they could have made a very big difference. [emphasis in this paragraph added by CCHC]

Folks, the election is only the beginning. The fact that the free market people walked away in 1995 is exactly what allowed the Congressional Republicans to go astray. It is not enough to elect good people. All that gets you is a hearing - a chance to make your case. This is especially true in health care.

I cannot emphasize this strongly enough - REPUBLICANS DON'T CARE ABOUT HEALTH CARE! They don't understand it and they aren't interested in it. What they are proposing today are just the warmed-over ideas of the last eight years (tort reform, association health plans, interstate purchase, etc.) They don't understand the pernicious role of third-party payment, or the importance of patient empowerment, or the distortions of the tax laws. Even the best of them, like Bobby Jindahl, are still tilting towards managed care. [CCHC adds: Governor Pawlenty too (2010 MN Law (ObamaCare implementation) & 2008 MN health care reform law (Mn. Statutes 62U)]

If you want something positive done about health care, you can't stop at the elections. This is the time to plan for 2011 and budget for substantial contributions to the organizations that can make the case with the new Congress and the new governors.

The ball is now in your court. If you fail to deliver now you will have no one but yourself to blame for the outcome.

Unelected federal bureaucrats are forcing New York City to spend $27 million to replace their street signs. Our bureaucratic overlords maintain that streets signs must contain both upper and lower case letters, instead of just capital letters! Do you feel grateful that you're being protected from upper case streets signs?

This dictatorial mandate comes from the Federal Highway Administration, and applies to every community in America, not just New York City.

But don't blame this outrage on the busy-body Democrats. This isn't an Obama directive. The rule was actually promulgated back in 2003 -- during the Bush Administration.

Regardless of which party rules, very little is done to stop unfunded mandates or bureaucratic law-making. The problem is, Republicans have been promising to get rid of unfunded mandates since their so-called "Contract With America" way back in 1994!

The GOP controlled Congress and the White House for 6 years, but did exactly nothing to honor their promise.

This shows why we must remain committed to principles, not parties or politicians.

Now, here is what can be done about unfunded mandates, and you'll only read these next two ideas HERE, in the Downsizer-Dispatch.

First, New York City could tell the feds to, "Go to hell." City officials swore an oath to the Constitution too. They've read the highest law in the land. They know this is wrong.

That would be called, "nullification." To help promote this idea, Downsize DC President Jim Babka will be speaking at the Nullify Now! Conference in Orlando on October 10. There will also be two other opportunities to see (and meet) him this weekend. You can see the details here.

Second, if a single sitting GOP member of Congress was serious about fixing unfunded mandates imposed by un-elected bureaucrats, then he or she could sponsor DownsizeDC.org's Write the Laws Act.

There are candidates who've pledged to do this, and you can read their names here.

But no incumbent member of Congress has yet stepped forward to introduce this powerful bill which would restore ALL legislative power to the House and Senate, and deny any legislative power to the Executive Branch, just as the Founders intended.

The Republicans tell us they believe in small government and the Constitution, but if that were really true they would introduce this bill.

Allowing bureaucrats to issue dictates that have the force of law amounts to legislation without representation. How un-Constitutional is that? How un-American? How hypocritical, especially for GOP members?

Please send a letter demanding that your representatives introduce and support the Write the Laws Act.

You may borrow from or copy this letter . . .

The FHWA is requiring street signs nationwide be replaced so that, for example, MAIN ST becomes Main St. Fonts must also be standardized. This underscores the need for the WTLA . . .

* This FHWA dictate is an unfunded mandate imposed by unelected bureaucrats on cash-strapped local governments, which means
* My state and local governments must pay for these changes by taxing me, even though we weren't represented in this ruling

I demand you do two things:

* Repeal the FHWA street sign requirement and return all powers of traffic control and safety to the states, exactly as the Tenth Amendment requires
* Introduce the Write the Laws Act so that Congress alone will write our laws and regulations, as the Constitution also requires

If you claim you want smaller, less-intrusive, common-sense government, then show me you really mean it by introducing DownsizeDC's Write the Laws Act.

It's finally here: Our 10/10/10 Rally! The forecast looks amazing. Our program is set. This will be a highly informative event covering all sorts of timely topics designed to educate, challenge and motivate us all to do our part in making an indelible mark on our nation's history.

We're discouraging signs so that those who are bent on disparaging our movement and trying to marginalize our event will have little or nothing to distract from the main message in words and music from the stage. So, bring a lawn chair, a friend, a neighbor and your patriotic fervor. And let's commit ourselves in unity to the higher cause of restoring America to her unprecedented greatness.

10/10/10 Rally, Sunday!

The Louisville Tea Party invites you to come out and bring a friend or two with you for a Sunday afternoon of timely teaching on founding principles, celebration with patriotic music and being energized and mobilized to impact the election cycle as never before. TPP Launches First Televised Ads

Kentucky is the lucky state which will broadcast the first TPP ads on TV in support of our One Million Yards Signs by Election Day campaign.

The ads are being produced and sponsored by the company that makes the yards signs and other branded Tea Party Patriots products. The 30-second spots will air in Kentucky's six media markets, with more markets set to be added in the near future.

100 days, you will be paying higher taxes than you have in over a

If you pay taxes, your taxes are going up. Even the lowest tax rate

If you have a small business, the rate at which a majority of small

factor in the hundreds of tax hikes which Congressional Democrats have

Earmarks were used to bribe Republicans to support the prescription drug benefit and TARP. Earmarks were used to bribe Democrats to support Obamacare. Earmarks are a drug and the GOP, to absolve itself of its own sins, publicly declared that House Republicans would give up the very corrupting practice.

But it was all for show, or so it seems. House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) declares earmarks will be back in full swing once the GOP takes back Congress.

With Eric Cantor (R-VA) already talking about a rollback of the Republican ban on earmarks if they reclaim majority status, limited government activists can be sure that our message has NOT gotten through to the establishment GOP in DC. This is sad. It reminds me a lot of what happened in '94 when the Contract With America helped sweep the GOP back into power. Dick Armey commented that term limits were no longer necessary as the GOP was back in power. Nice, eh?

Apparently, the GOP in DC continues to miss the point of the rallies and protests. When Tea Parties were started, average Americans had finally reached the overflow point -- federal government had overstepped its bounds TOO many times with TOO much of our money. We began searching for a deeper understanding of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. WE re-learned our American history and civics. WE found ourselves enlightened and appreciative of the intelligence, sacrifice, and honor of our founders. Unfortunately, now WE seem to be the only ones who get it.

Eric Erickson's piece, "Meet the New Boss," is dead on. It's depressing but he's definitely called it like a lot of us see it. It's apparently time to figure out a new game plan, folks, because Cantor and others on The Hill don't get it. Handing the Dems a pink slip is only a start... they all need to come home and we need to replace them with patriots who put the Constitution first.

It's a daunting task and one that makes me wonder if We the People have finally let They the Congress get so far out of control that we will never be able to rein them back in to their Constitutional boundaries.

Over the past two years, I have probably received this same email about six times. It containing the text of an article by a journalist named Charley Reese numerous times from different folks. Charley wrote for the Orlando Sentinel for thirty years and retired in 2001. I understand why I'm seeing it more frequently lately; however, I hope the folks forwarding it have given serious thought to it. I fear the frivolous thoughts that run something like, "Yeah! Obama, Pelosi, and Reid suck!" Unconstructive, unenlightened, and destined to fail, again. I hope the line of thought is as serious and constructive as, "How can I be a part of stopping this insanity?"

The problem stated clearly in Charley's article is that WE the People are the problem when we choose to send those 545 people back to Congress to continue doing what they've always done. While the 545 who blame vague entities like "the economy" and "politics" keep playing that game, we keep putting them back in office to continue the game. Serious people understand that this must stop. I don't care what side of the aisle you're on, if you vote for someone who plays these games, you're as guilty as they are.

From what I can tell, this article has been published several times under varying titles and with varying text. According to Snopes.com, this version was published in 1985.

The 545 People Responsible For All Of America's Woes

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 235 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.

I excluded all but the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.

No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislation's responsibility to determine how he votes.

A CONFIDENCE CONSPIRACY

Don't you see how the con game is played on the people by the politicians? Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of Tip O'Neill, who stood up and criticized Ronald Reagan for creating deficits.

The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating appropriations and taxes.

O'Neill is the speaker of the House. He is the leader of the majority party. He and his fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto.

REPLACE SCOUNDRELS

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 235 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.

I can't think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.

When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in Lebanon, it's because they want them in Lebanon.

There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take it.

Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation" or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people and they alone are responsible. They and they alone have the power. They and they alone should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided they have the gumption to manage their own employees.

I admit it. I sent Barack Obama an online birthday greeting the other day as a joke. It wasn't a very nice greeting, actually. It was a very straight forward critique of his job so far as POTUS, an earnest request for him to stop dividing this country by playing the race card non-stop, and to drop the golf outings in favor of a trip to our Southern borders, along with my best wishes for a one-term presidency. I thought it was kind of fun and got a giggle out of it.

Evidently, not only did his handlers not bother to READ the greeting, they sent me a thank you note. That thank you note from Mitch Stewart was followed up by another one from the Emperor himself. And now, if all the thank you notes weren't enough, I am being spammed by OFA to request my help in supporting their Marxist, Banana Republic agenda.

This is freakin' ridiculous. I guess it's got to be the first time in US history that a President has ever trapped email addresses for his brown shirts to use to spam the resistance. Geez. This is nonsense.

But Republicans are standing in the way. Minority Leader John Boehner is calling the bill a "payoff" to "special interests" and attacking every Democrat who is fighting for us.

But I'm not a special interest. I'm a teacher.

Can you join me in telling House Democrats that they have our support as they fight for our jobs?

Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- and the entire Democratic Caucus -- have decided to rush back to Washington to make sure that hundreds of thousands of workers like me will get to keep our jobs. In addition, the bill will actually create even more job growth by closing tax loopholes for companies that ship American jobs overseas.

But the Republicans are going to do everything they can to prevent this aid.

In an interesting turn of events today, I received notice of two related subjects: Upcoming events for the Doctors Tea Parties and an OpenSecrets blog entry examining the political contributions rolling in to members of the new Tea Party Caucus in Congress. Guess which group is among those making the largest campaign contributions to the Tea Party Caucus... yep, doctors! Rightly so, if you ask me, as their livelihoods are at risk with the Banana Republic style takeover that we all know is right at hand.

What took me a bit by surprise in the list of contributors was the large contributions from retirees. If these are retirees looking to protect their government-subsidized retirements and/or medicare, then we certainly have a fly in the tea, ladies and gentlemen. That is NOT what the Tea Party movement is all about. However, if these retirees are hoping to protect their grandchildren from financial slavery, well then, we do indeed have a party and that tea will certainly hit the spot!

Is the AMA in Obama's Back Pocket?

In the recent AMNews, June 7, 2010, pp 6-7, we physicians were given talking points on how to tell our patients about ObamaCare. It was so full of "happy-speak" that one must wonder if the AMA has paid lobbyists for the Administration.

A typical question might be, "What's in it for me?" We are to say "For many patients who don't have coverage and can't afford it, the government in 2014 will offer sliding scale credits to buy a plan… Employers also are going to be expected to step up to the plate, offering coverage or kicking in part of the premium for employees who sign up for plans through the insurance exchanges."

Of course, that is assuming that our patients still have jobs. But we must not say that.

Our patients might ask, "Are Medicare or Medicaid going to help more?" Our answer is to be "Medicaid will undergo a major expansion. …the federal government will be footing the bill for most of the expansion, but states will be required to help pay for it, provided a lawsuit by several states challenging the Medicaid piece does not invalidate it."

We probably should leave out the fact that most physicians cannot afford to see Medicaid patients at the current reimbursement rates, as we ought to present a positive front.

"Will there be enough doctors to see everyone?" The short answer is "No." But The AMA suggests we tell them that "The federal government will commit more money toward primary care training, redistribute unused medical education slots to primary care and general surgery, and commit more funding toward incentives for primary care doctors to work in critical care areas."

Never mind that the federal and state governments are already bankrupt.

Here's a great line. We can tell them that "innovative care delivery models and measures aimed at boosting health quality and efficiency are part of the reform law's plan to maximize the power of the existing physician work force."

Of course, that might be difficult as 40% of physicians, so demoralized by the specter ObamaCare, will be retiring or looking for other ways to earn a living.

"How might our plan of care change?" Here is where real doublespeak needs to be applied. The AMNews tells us to say that "coverage expansion should improve access to preventive care, allowing physicians to order relative fewer complex services and hospitalize fewer patients.

Effective in 2014, insurers will be required to cover a certain set of basic services, meaning that doctors and patients might not need to find as many alternatives to care that otherwise would be deemed too costly."

We must not suggest that the government might deem cheaper and less care to be the "best," as we must always assume that the bureaucrats in Washington really care about us.

Above all, we must reassure our patients that the government will be efficient, competent and careful in the way our collective health care money is spent. We can always point to the efficient speed with which the government has handled the oil spill in the Gulf.

The most important question of all might be "Will you keep me as a patient?" This answer as given by the AMNews was the most honest. They say, "Nothing in the reform law requires a physician to continue seeing existing patients or to take new ones through insurance exchanges, though many say they will as long as their practices can afford to provide the care."

As a physician in private practice, I will be happy to answer this myself. I can say that I have no intention of participating in any health plan and thus I will provide care without having to consider a bureaucrat looking over my shoulder. As stated in the Oath of Hippocrates, I will "follow the system of regimen which, according to my ability and judgment, I consider for the benefit of my patients."

I will also tell them that as long as we can keep any third party out of most encounters, I will be able to keep their medical records private. If my patients are willing to pay a fair price for my service, I will remain willing to provide that care.

Dr. Alieta Eck, MD graduated from the Rutgers College of Pharmacy in NJ and the St. Louis School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. She studied Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ and has been in private practice with her husband, Dr. John Eck, MD in Piscataway, NJ since 1988. She has been involved in health care reform since residency and is convinced that the government is a poor provider of medical care. She testified before the Joint Economic Committee of the US Congress in 2004 about better ways to deliver health care in the United States. In 2003, she and her husband founded the Zarephath Health Center, a free clinic for the poor and uninsured that currently cares for 300-400 patients per month utilizing the donated services of volunteer physicians and nurses. Dr. Eck is a long time member of the Christian Medical Dental Association and in 2009 joined the board of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. In addition, she serves on the advisory board of Christian Care Medi-Share, a faith based medical cost sharing Ministry. She is a member of Zarephath Christian Church and she and her husband have five children, one in medical school in NJ.

There is nothing more precious to Americans as our right to vote and the belief that our voting rights are sacred and protected. The dismissal of charges against people who commit voter intimidation -- BLATANTLY and with video evidence of it -- simply because they are black ("minority") is about as UNAmerican as it gets. Martin Luther King, Jr. himself must be rolling in his grave.

Despite the DOJ’s failure to present any credible justification for withholding relevant documents and subpoenaed witnesses, the Commission offered Holder a compromise on July 28. Without waiving its demand for information about the NBPP dismissal, the Commission offered to limit its initial questioning of Christopher Coates if Justice would produce him as a witness. The Commission offered to temporarily forgo questions about the NBBP case deliberations and instead ask about the DOJ policies that J. Christian Adams testified about: the directive from Julie Fernandes, the deputy assistant attorney general for civil rights, that no cases would be filed against black or other minority defendants and no cases would be filed to enforce Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act.

Louisville, KY (July 28, 2010) – Candidate for U.S. Senate Jack Conway revealed in a radio interview this morning that he supports the Employee 'Forced' Choice Act (EFCA), supports removing the secret ballot from union-organizing elections and wants to make it "as easy as possible" for Kentucky's small businesses to be forcibly unionized by means of EFCA. He reiterated his support for the legislation even as the interviewer pointed out that the legislation was a "job killer."

During the live interview on The Mandy Connell Show on WHAS-AM radio this morning, Conway said that he wants to make it "as easy as we can" for Big Labor bosses to force unionization on Kentucky workers and small businesses. Conway admitted that Kentucky has lost "100,000 manufacturing jobs in this state in the last decade," but continued to say he supports a law that both economists and job creators have told us would cost Kentucky even more jobs.

"Jack Conway is now clearly and unambiguously 'on record' supporting legislation he understands will destroy jobs in Kentucky, even while tens of thousands of those he aspires to represent in Congress can't find work," said Scott Jennings, state director of the Coalition to Protect Kentucky Jobs (CPKJ). "For the last two months, we have repeatedly asked Mr. Conway to clarify his position on this issue, to reconsider his stance and to side with Kentucky workers and small businesses. Regrettably, instead, Conway has chosen to stand with the Big Labor bosses in support of a 'job killer.'"

It is my sincere hope that the GOP, if it spanks the Democrats as hard as expected in the midterm elections, pays VERY close attention to correcting past mistakes. I can't speak for all Tea Partiers but I can tell you that a large contingent of us are expecting an adjustment in the "ruling class" attitudes and a revamped, sharp, efficient, and streamlined fiscal policy.

My worst fear is that we get better GOP numbers in Congress this midterm only to end up with more of the same poor fiscal Policy "management."

The Democrats are running scared, fearful of the impact grassroots activists will have in November. With the DISCLOSE Act, which will go into effect almost immediately, in time for the November elections, they will be able to effectively and legally shut us down. The effort to silence us before the elections is tantamount to a witch hunt. Read this email carefully for more information about this bill and then please make some phone calls NOW and tell them to VOTE NO!!

Even if somehow the speech restrictions in this bill were constitutional, their uneven application would be a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment's equal protection under the law. Even the left-leaning Sierra Club has labeled the DISCLOSE Act a two-tiered system that is "unfair and undemocratic" and that smaller grass-roots organizations would be disadvantaged because they lack the resources to cope with "the additional disclosure burdens." The unions and the big non-profit groups get to keep their free speech given to them in the January Supreme Court decision, but the corporations and small non-profits lose theirs under DISCLOSE.

Also, President Obama and some Democrats are dishonestly stating that the Court's decision would "open the floodgates for special interest, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections." However, current federal law and Federal Election Commission regulations already ban foreign corporations from participating directly or indirectly in American elections. (see 2 U.S.C. § 441e and 2 U.S.C. 437g).

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU

Exampleville, Ohio has two people running for U.S. Congress-Mr. A and Mr. B-in what promises to be a close race. Exampleville's local Tea Party believes in Mr. B. The Tea Party wants to run ads highlighting Mr. B's stance on cap and trade, federal spending, increased taxation, etc, but they don't have enough money to fulfill the new highly complex reporting requirements from DISCLOSE. And DISCLOSE would force them to list their top donors, even if they are not necessarily the specific donors to the ads, in their ads. Besides, the disclaimers required could take up to 14 of a 30 second ad. The Tea Party gives up trying to run ads to support Mr. Republican.

In contrast, Mr. A has some well-funded unions who want to see Exampleville's factories unionized, so the unions run ads against Mr. B and ads for Mr. A. Also, the Sierra Club and the ACLU (groups actually opposed to DISCLOSE) want Mr. A to support their issues, so they also run ads for Mr. A. None of these ads are subject to DISCLOSE's requirements.

Guess who wins?

The DISCLOSE Act exempts unions and very large special interest groups!! And the little guy is left without a voice.

While I'm offended at the amount of entourage and excess with which this president travels, whether it's vacation or business, I tend to agree with a number of others who wish everyone on Capitol Hill would vacation more and legislate less.

Noblesse Oblige: Obama's Dog Gets Own Plane on Vacation Trip

The Morning Sentinel, a small paper from the state of Maine, has a travelogue story of the Obama's vacation in and about Maine today. It has a very interesting little tidbit in it that should enrage every American. It is something that really shows Barack Obama's arrogance and his obviously assumed air of noblesse oblige.

Among the exciting details of the Obama's visit to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor is this tidbit:

Arriving in a small jet before the Obamas was the first dog, Bo, a Portuguese water dog given as a present by the late U.S. Sen Ted Kennedy, D-Mass.…

As the rest of us toil on the unemployment line, as millions of Americans find their retirement accounts dwindling, their hours at work cut, and their pay scale trimmed, King Barack and Queen Michelle are flying their little doggie, Bo, on his own special jet airplane for his own little vacation adventure.

Well, it must be nice to be able to afford to fly your doggie about the country whenever you feel like it. It must be nice to hire people to act as your dog's escort. It must be comforting to know that you have the power to arrange such luxury for a dog.

As America lurches toward depression our leader is wasting millions on constant vacationing — 16 vehicles were used to drive the Obama's around North Carolina — and affording his dog …his dog… his owns special jet airplane.
Air traffic at the small Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton was shut down for the presidential arrival. A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter patrolled the air in anticipation of the first family's touchdown, and a pair of local fire and rescue trucks stood ready on an otherwise empty tarmac at the private air hangar. The Obamas then traveled onto Mount Desert Island in a motorcade of at least 16 vehicles. It was led by two Maine State Police cruisers and included five black Chevrolet Suburbans.

And all this on OUR dime, folks. We are paying for our monarch to fly his pets around the country on their own special jets, folks. Perhaps Barack Obama isn't like a king. Perhaps he's more like an emperor? An emperor like the fiddling Nero.

Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele was absolutely right. Afghanistan is Obama's war and, judging by other recent Democratic ventures in military affairs, isn't likely to turn out well.

It has been idiotically claimed that Steele's statement about Afghanistan being Obama's war is "inaccurate" -- as if Steele is unaware Bush invaded Afghanistan soon after 9/11. (No one can forget that -- even liberals pretended to support that war for three whole weeks.)

Yes, Bush invaded Afghanistan soon after 9/11. Within the first few months we had
toppled the Taliban, killed or captured hundreds of al-Qaida fighters and
arranged for democratic elections, resulting in an American-friendly government.

Then Bush declared success and turned his attention to Iraq, leaving minimal troops behind in Afghanistan to prevent Osama bin Laden from regrouping, swat down al-Qaida fighters and gather intelligence.

Having some vague concept of America's national interest -- unlike liberals -- the Bush administration could see that a country of illiterate peasants living in caves
ruled by "warlords" was not a primo target for "nation-building."

By contrast, Iraq had a young, educated, pro-Western populace that was ideal for
regime change.

If Saddam Hussein had been a peach, it would still be a major victory in the war on terrorism to have a Muslim Israel in that part of the globe, and it sure wasn't going to be Afghanistan (literacy rate, 19 percent; life expectancy, 44 years; working toilets, 7).

But Iraq also was a state sponsor of terrorism; was attempting to build nuclear weapons (according to endless bipartisan investigations in this country and in Britain
-- thanks, liberals!); nurtured and gave refuge to Islamic terrorists -- including the 1993 World Trade Center bombers; was led by a mass murderer who had used weapons of mass destruction; paid bonuses t o the families of suicide bombers; had vast oil reserves; and is situated at the heart of a critical region.

Having absolutely no interest in America's national security, the entire Democratic Party (save Joe Lieberman) wailed about the war in Iraq for five years, pretending they really wanted to go great-guns in Afghanistan. What the heck: They had already voted for the war in Afghanistan in the wake of 9/11 when they would have been hanged as traitors had they objected.

The obsession with Afghanistan was pure rhetoric. Democrats have no interest in
fighting any war that would serve America's interests. (They're too jammed with
their wars against Evangelicals, Wal-Mart, the Pledge of Allegiance, SUVs and
the middle class.) Absent Iraq, they'd have been bad-mouthing Afghanistan, too.

So for the entire course of the magnificently successful war in Iraq, all we heard from these useless Democrats was that Iraq was a "war of choice," while Afghanistan -- the good war! -- was a "war of necessity." "Bush took his eye off the ball in Afghanistan!" "He got distracted by war in Iraq!" "WHERE'S OSAMA?" and -- my favorite -- "Iraq didn't attack us on 9/11!"

Of course, neither did Afghanistan. But Democrats were in a lather and couldn't be
bothered with the facts.

The above complaints about Iraq come -- nearly verbatim -- from speeches and press conferences by Obama, Joe Biden, and Obama's national security advisers Susan Rice and Richard Clarke. Also, the entire gutless Democratic Party. Some liberals began including them in their wedding vows.

(By the way, Democrats: WHERE'S OSAMA?)

Obama hasn't ramped up the war in Afghanistan based on a careful calculation of America's strategic objectives. He did it because he was trapped by his own rhetorical game of bashing the Iraq war while pretending to be a hawk on Afghanistan.

At this point, Afghanistan is every bit as much Obama's war as Vietnam was Lyndon Johnson's war. True, President Kennedy was the first to send troops to Vietnam. We had 16,000 troops in Vietnam when JFK was assassinated. Within four years, LBJ had sent 400,000 troops there.

In the entire seven-year course of the Afghanistan war under Bush, from October
2001 to January 2009, 625 American soldiers were killed. In 18 short months,
Obama has nearly doubled that number to 1,124 Americans killed.

Republicans used to think seriously about deploying the military. President Eisenhower sent aid to South Vietnam, but said he could not "conceive
of a greater tragedy" for America than getting heavily involved there.

As Michael Steele correctly noted, every great power that's tried to stage an all-out war in Afghanistan has gotten its ass handed to it. Everyone knows it's not worth the trouble and resources to take a nation of rocks and brigands.

Based on Obama's rules of engagement for our troops in Afghanistan, we're apparently not even fighting a war. The greatest fighting force in the world is building vocational schools and distributing cheese crackers to children.

There's even talk of giving soldiers medals for NOT shooting people, which I gather will be awarded posthumously. Naomi Campbell is rougher with her assistants than our troops are allowed to be with Taliban fighters.

But now I hear it is the official policy of the Republican Party to be for all wars, irrespective of our national interest.

What if Obama decides to invade England because he's still ticked off about that
Churchill bust? Can Michael Steele and I object to that? Or would that demoralize the troops?

Our troops are the most magnificent in the world, but they're not the ones setting military policy. The president is -- and he's basing his war strategy on the chants of Moveon.org cretins.

Nonetheless, Bill Kristol and Liz Cheney have demanded that Steele resign as head of the RNC for saying Afghanistan is now Obama's war -- and a badly thought-out one at that. (Didn't liberals warn us that neoconservatives want permanent war?)

I thought the irreducible requirements of Republicanism were being for life, small government and a strong national defense, but I guess permanent war is on the platter now, too.

Of course, if Kristol is writing the rules for being a Republican, we're all going to have to get on board for amnesty and a "National Greatness Project," too – other Kristol ideas for the Republican Party. Also, John McCain. Kristol was an early backer of McCain for president -- and look how great that turned out!

Inasmuch as demanding resignations is another new Republican position, here's mine: Bill Kristol and Liz Cheney must resign immediately.

For the record, Molotov Mitchell who wrote and produced this music video is an Independent who felt he couldn't support John McCain and did not vote for Obama. Is he biased? Hard to say since he didn't like McCain or Obama. I'd say he's represents where a whole lot of Conservatives were in 2008.

My husband and I marched with hundreds of thousands on 9/12/2009 as a part of the Taxpayers March on DC. This song and the music video completely capture the spirit of that day. It was inspiring and eye-opening. So many voices, so many feet on the street, as we marched peacefully to express our desire to return this country to its roots, its greatness, its liberty.

I'm going on record now that THIS is a VERY bad idea. Training on how to be a good Conservative candidate from the guy who backed Dede Scozzafava?! No thanks. And, might I humbly suggest that all Tea Party Conservatives stay far away from this. This is just more big government GOP machinery attempting to hijack a REAL move toward greater liberty.

For the sake of full disclosure to newer readers: There was a time when I would have voted for Gingrich had he run for POTUS. His true colors became clear to me over time and there's no way I could ever vote for him now. He's another big government Republican. Smarter than Huckabee or Romney but just like them in most other ways.

I'm no fan of policies based on race or "diversity" training; however, I ask those on the Left, whatever happened to your precious "diversity" and "tolerance?" It's time to stop the bigotry and strategic blunders... either knock it off or wear your brown shirts right out in public like Helen Thomas did. The woman is hateful but at least she's open about it. The rest of us who value people not based on their religion or their race or their homeland but because they are human beings would like to be able to identify you bigots on sight. We can then shun you properly.

Terrific article by Jacob Hornberger on the Libertarian point of view that has so many Leftists confused about honest-to-the-Higher-Power-of-your-choice liberty as it pertains to Civil Rights.

Hands off of John Stossel, silly Libs! He's a brilliant, open-minded journalist. There aren't enough of those. Leave him alone.

If you want to understand why America is in deep crisis on the domestic front, consider an op-ed entitled "Tell Fox to Lay Off Our Civil Rights" by a liberal named James Rucker. The op-ed perfectly encapsulates the statist mindset that has mired our nation in paternalism, welfarism, socialism, and interventionism, along with the out-of-control federal spending, debt, taxes, and inflation that now threaten the United States with national bankruptcy.

As Government Meddling in Nutritional Issues Mounts,
CEI Advises, "Eat Two Donuts Today—One for Yourself,
and One for Your Freedom"

Washington, D.C., June 4, 2010—The Competitive Enterprise Institute today urged Americans to turn National Donut Day into a day of protest against growing government intrusion into nutritional issues. CEI urged people to eat two donuts—"one for yourself, and one as an act of patriotic civil disobedience."
Federal regulation of nutritional issues is accelerating. Restaurant menu labeling mandates were included in the recently enacted health care legislation; the FDA is seeking "voluntary" cutbacks on salt in processed foods; and most recently the White House Task Force on Childhood Obesity issued a major report proposing changes in everything from prenatal care programs to community planning. All of these measures are based on questionable science and major misjudgments of government's proper role.
CEI General Counsel Sam Kazman stated: "When it comes to regulating the foods we eat and the places we dine, the federal government apparently knows no limits. People may not think of National Donut Day as a political event but, given current trends, it really is a fine occasion on which to tell the feds to mind their own business. And that's why today we urge each person to eat not one but two donuts—one for themselves, and one as an act of patriotic civil disobedience."

The 2010 edition of "Federal Spending by the Numbers" shows spending and deficits continuing to grow at a pace not seen since World War II. Washington will spend $30,543 per household in 2010—$5,000 per household more than just two years ago. While some of this spending is a temporary result of the recession, President Obama's latest budget would replace this temporary spending with permanent new programs. Consequently, by 2020—a time of assumed peace and prosperity—Washington would still spend nearly $36,000 per household, compared to $25,000 per household before this recession (adjusted for inflation).

Since 2000, spending has grown across the board. Entitlement spending has reached a record 14 percent of GDP. Discretionary spending has expanded 79 percent faster than inflation as a result of large defense and domestic spending hikes. Other spending categories that have grown rapidly since 2000 include: anti-poverty programs (89 percent faster than inflation), K–12 education (219 percent), veterans spending (107 percent), and Medicare (81 percent). And despite all the pressing national priorities, lawmakers approved over 9,000 earmarks last year at a cost of $16.5 billion. Simply put, all parts of government are growing.

Consequently, Washington's 2009 budget deficit is estimated at $1.5 trillion ($12,664 per household). While deficits naturally rise during recessions, one would expect them to eventually return back to the $100 billion to $400 billion range that prevailed before the recession. However, the President's budget shows annual budget deficits averaging just under $1 trillion for the next decade—a level of borrowing that would cause the national debt to double. These deficits would not only raise interest rates, they would also nearly quadruple the net interest costs of the national debt over the next decade.

Of course, not all future spending is inevitable. In the 1980s and 1990s, Washington consistently spent $21,000 per household (adjusted for inflation). Simply returning to that level would balance the budget by 2012 without any tax hikes. Alternatively, returning to the $25,000 per household level (adjusted for inflation) that Washington spent before the current recession would likely balance the budget by 2019 without any tax hikes.

The Democrats gaveled it down from the Speaker's chair, shutting down debate. The reason the Democrat Majority gave? It would prevent federal workers on Capitol Hill from getting a pay raise, so it could not be considered. That is literally the reason they gave. It is astounding, and an affront to every small businessperson and struggling family across this country.

Let's say I break into your house...

Like it or not, this is what illegal immigration is and why none of us should condemn Arizona for wanting to stop the problem in their own state. "Illegal" means what it means -- that it is against the law. Time to call a criminal a criminal.

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across

the country protesting the fact that Arizona is finally addressing its own problems with illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that Arizona has chosen to protect its own borders, which might make it harder to sneak into this country, and once here, stay indefinitely.

Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover me in your house,

you insist that I leave.

But I say, "No! I like it here. It's better than my house. I've made all the beds, washed the dishes, did the laundry, and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest"...

(except for when I broke into your house).

My husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest (except for that breaking in part).

According to the protesters:

You are Required to let me stay in your house...
You are Required to feed me...
You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan...
You are Required to educate my kids...
You are Required to provide other benefits to me & to my family.

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house.

And, what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the actual cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, and I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE,

so that you can communicate with me.
