No kidding, this is directly quoted from my textbook for Diversity class:
I think they need to rename this class "Shame on you, Whitey Conservative!" -- what a freakin' waste of time for any intellectual individual. I have been reading the assigned chapters in full and each time I find nonsense like this. From here on out, I will referring to the index for pertinent terms and going directly to the page(s) I need to complete each assignment. My head will explode from my rising blood pressure if I continue to try to read this excrement in full.
As an "all-weather Conservative" who knows that everyone is capable of great things if they put in the time and effort to achieve them, I will be registering a complaint about the content of this class after I pull down another A. I'm a cynic but even I believe that the world of academe can provide better material than this.

Prejudiced | Prejudiced nondiscriminator (timid bigot) | Prejudiced discriminator (all-weather bigot) |

Also check out the definitions of words like discriminate, bigot, liberal. I often use dictionary.com.
I'm quite sorry for you.

I remember years ago taking basic economics at the University of Texas from a French, self described Marxist. I parroted the party line and got an A, but what a joke. Some things never change. The authors actually think this course incalculates respect for diversity ?
The discussions of the "prejudiced non-discriminator" have generated my favorite quotes from the train wreck classes.
A few:
"Even if you have never displayed any actionable prejudicial or sexist behavior...
"...If you've never dated outside your race, then you're a bigot."
"...Any man that would eat lunch at "Hooters" isn't fit to wear the uniform."
And my all time saddest example needs a bit of a set-up back story.
I had a very good female Sailor that is Navaho...full blooded, and still very close to her family and community in NM. She even had (and used)the DoD peyote waiver to participate in religious ceremonies when home on leave.

A diversity magazine called my Type Wing leadership and said they wanted to do a story about her. It was all set to go until they discovered she had recently married. Then they cancelled. The magazines reason was, "Gee, she uses her married name now, and it really sounds Italian. We're looking for someone with a more stereotypical sounding Native American name."
My current mantra, "There is no such thing as good racism."
Mark, thanks for the comments. I did check out the definitions as you suggested. It would seem that I took the term "liberal" as a proper noun rather than a descriptor (as it was intended); however, I still think that this material is way out of line.
How do we encourage tolerance for all people by constantly pointing out our differences based on oppressor/oppressed race/class? Isn't the first step toward understanding always to find ways in which we are similar?
I agree that the material is way out of line. But, to be able to refute and/or understand their logic, you sometime have to know the motivations and the processes they use to get to their final conclusion.
Well.... this started out as a comment, but it's getting long in my mind, so I think I'll make a post at my Political Truths blog at http://truththroughthesmoke.blogspot.com later on.
