I believe the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability, and responsibility must be honored. [This does not mean that the individual's choice of lifestyle or religion must be an amendment to the Constitution. Knock it off.]
I believe in equal rights, equal justice, and equal opportunity for all regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability. [Note the word "all" in this statement: it means everyone. Discrimination is still discrimination, especially when mandated by the government.]
I believe free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth, and prosperity. [Capitalism = good. Humiliating dependency on a nanny-state = bad.]
I believe government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn. [FYI Congress: it is not a surplus if you have more of our money than you originally budgeted. It's robbery.]
I believe the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least. [The most efficient organizations are privately-run, not government-run. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure this one out.]
I believe the most effective, responsible, and responsive government is government closest to the people. [...unless, of course, you happen to live in New Orleans, Louisiana where not only the city but the state governments failed you. States' Rights are still respected and that's as it should be: next time, may I suggest y'all elect a Conservative to run the city?]
I believe Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times. [Let's remain undaunted pioneers with an independent spirit of exploration, shall we? Changing times demand individual creative thinking by citizens who then band together to face new challenges.]
I believe Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom, and human rights throughout the world. [Sometimes the best defense is a good offense, folks.]
