A day late, yes, but I do sincerely wish everyone a very happy new year!
This year should be an interesting one in many aspects. I believe we will see the conclusion of some things that will launch us into some introspection and regrouping. This is a time to look forward to that house-cleaning that will lead to terrific new beginnings in 2008.
2007 is a numerological "9" which is the number of conclusions. -- Okay, yes, I dabble with a little of everything. You can never have enough data. -- This may mean a lot of things politically and in the world at large. I found this one-page summation of the numerological meaning of this new year quite interesting.
Okay, now that I've unleashed my kooky side (numerology, fer cryin' out loud?). I do think we'll see some re-evaluations and some new approaches to nasty problems in this new year: Saddam's execution was a good start; possibly, we'll find a new approach to ending the sectarian violence in Iraq with the eventual help of strong and insightful leadership in that region of the world; and I certainly hope we will see the necessary introspection that will allow the end of the nasty political bickering as the parties start to sort out what they REALLY stand for and what is required of them to please their constituencies!
Wouldn't all of that be really nice? Ah. Optimism.
