Oh, the bittersweet irony!

Welcome to the leadership position, Democrats! From the Fox News report today (video here):

"Rahm Emanuel tried to regain control of the press conference. Finally he said we are going to go back to the caucus room and come back when the peace protestors are gone. Cindy Sheehan and cohorts were on capitol hill saying, 'Look, we are not interested in your domestic agenda. We want you to get out of iraq and get out of iraq now.' "

Ironic, isn't it, that the first stab at bipartisanship came from Sheehan and her gang? She is certainly a woman of single focus and determination...

Dawn,
Sheehan is indeed a woman of determination. I don't agree with all of the things she has done to get her message out, but I guess she thinks that extreme actions speak volumes?

Dawn, sorry, I tend to interupt your threads, and I am about to do so again. Thus, I apologize in advance.

I noticed on your other thread that you were kind enough to send the ALL-IN-ONE email to the legislative body to vote NO on Kathy Stein. Two things, I have received mail back from legislators and those emails should be addressed to Speaker Jody Richards at: jody.richards@lrc.ky.gov

Not to bore your readers, but please allow me to share my reasons for NOT wanting Kathy Stein to chair ANYTHING let alone the Judicial Committee.

Kathy Stein is NOT qualified. I will give only two of the many reasons why Speaker Richards should NOT let Stein Chair the Judiciary Committee.

1. On July 13, 2006, Jonathan Miller publicly supported Kathy Stein to draft legislation to make it legal for taxpayer money to pay state employees to chat all day with Stein's good friend, Mark Nickolas on the blog Jonathan Miller conceived.

In the Spring of 2005, Kentucky Treasurer Jonathan Miller conceived the blog and wined and dined Mark Nickolas until Nickolas agreed to operate the blog. The blog has a reputation of slandering politicians, judges and public official, but naturally supports Kathy Stein and Jonathan Miller.

The legislation that Jonathan Miller supports and Kathy Stein is drafting illustrates that Stein and Miller play FAVORITES when drafting legislative bills. The bill shows a complete disrespect for how taxpayer money should be spent.

2. Stein showed a complete lack of respect for the families and friends of our men and women in the military when she vehemently and callously removed the POW/MIA flag hanging at the old courthouse building in Lexington. Whether you are for or against the Iraq War (and I oppose the Iraq War), her stance on that was anti-patriotic and anti-American. That flag should be there as a bitter-sweet reminder of the sacrifices men and women in the military make.

Jonathan Miller and Kathy Stein must be held accountable for their use of taxpayer money. Jonathan Miller encouraged Mark Nickolas to operate that blog full time. A legitimate question that I have seen raised on blogs is: "Has Jonathan Miller or Kathy Stein donated any taxpayer money into that blog from the Discretionary Funds they both can use to enable Mark Nickolas to trash talk public officials that stand in the way of Miller and Stein?"

Sorry again Dawn to interupt your thread. I think this information regarding Kathy Stein and Jonathan Miller is very, very important and serious. I hope an audit or something of both their discretionary funds takes place. If either or both have written a check to Foundation for Kentucky's Future Inc., well ... that's what the blog is set up as with the Ky. SOS and banks. EEKKK!!!

Never apologize for getting information out, Anonymous! I'm glad you're contributing so much via your comments. I hope you'll continue to do so.

I received similar feedback on my group email to the address posted in the previous commentary on Kathy Stein. Not only was I told that it was up to leadership but I was also informed by Ms. Marzian (D-District 34) that Stein is "highly qualified and I fully support her." Partisan lines have been drawn on this one, I'm afraid. I am writing a bit about Marzian for this evening's post. She's a piece of work.

For the record: I don't delete commentary on this blog other than my own. I had named the wrong State Representative in the comment previous to the one above so I deleted it and tried again!

I just want to be sure that commenters here know that their comments will always stand. My own, however, are sometimes in need of correction...

Dawn, thanks. I am glad you are not bothered when I bust in on your threads.

Is conscription the prescription?

US Representative, Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is at it again. Rangel's prescription for fixing the ills we're feeling in Iraq is a draft . I have very mixed feelings about this. Conscription is conscription no matter what you choose to label it. Is that appropriate in a free country? On the flip side of this coin, I've often thought that compulsory national service would be a great idea for American kids right out of high school. It might have been a better start for me than learning to down beer at a Liberal Arts university! Two years in the service might give kids time to think about their future, learn higher levels of responsibility, and begin to take life more seriously. There are many countries who require some level of mandatory military service: Belarus, Chile, China, Croatia, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, our neighbor Mexico, and our old buddy Germany, to name a few. Gee, now that I look at that partial list... aren't many of those countries Socialist or at battl...

As the Blog Turns...

Gee. I have found myself fascinated by the soap opera unfolding in the comments section of this blog since last night. One little mention on a controversial Democrat's blog and it's High Noon on ConservaChick! (Yes, I'm laughing while I type this.) For those of you who have no idea what's happening in the ever-expanding comments section , join the club! Here's what I know about Mark Nickolas from bits and pieces I've read on his blog, and from a local news report: Nickolas likes to sneer at Republicans and call them snide little nicknames as he provides his "Unfiltered and Candid Look at Politics, Politicians and the Media in Kentucky;" he raised a ruckus within the Democrat party here in Kentucky by filing a suit against the chairman of the party , Jerry Lundergan; and he will be appearing on the same panel with yours truly on Thursday night. That's about it. You now have the benefit of my not-so-extensive knowledge on this subject. Nickolas poste...

Pol Watchers Responds

I think it's important for anyone with a voice on the internet to present all sides of an issue. In that spirit, I am posting the response I received via email from John Stamper of the Lexington Herald-Leader to the piece I wrote about censorship on blogs: "Your post about Pol Watchers does not contain the entire thread of comments, as your blog states. If you go to the post in question , you will see that there has been no effort to eliminate comments just because they question Jonathan Miller and Mark Nickolas. Plenty of them still remain. However, as stated in my comment on Pol Watchers, we're not going to allow people to use the blog as a forum for name calling. It's that simple. Check around, it's a pretty common policy. For example, blogs at WashingtonPost.com have this policy: 'User reviews and comments that include profanity or personal attacks or other inappropriate comments or material will be removed from the site. Additionally, entries that are unsi...
