I often receive press releases and/or dispatches from groups but none have aggravated me more than one I recently received from Richard Viguerie. In many cases, I tend to agree with him, especially with regard to "big government Conservatives;" however, this time I'm afraid he's lost his marbles.
ConservativesBetrayed.com is hosting a petition stating that "...if the Republican Party nominates pro-abortion candidates, they [Republicans who sign the petition] will not support them."
Look, I helped to virtually hand the White House to the Clintons on a silver platter once; I'll be damned if I'll do it again! This is one of the DUMBEST things I've EVER heard! If the GOP nominee ends up being Rudy Guiliani, Viguerie and his fellow petitioners seem to think that voting for a third-party candidate and handing the general election to a Democrat is better than electing a Republican to nominate Supreme Court justices. If Viguerie's issue is truly about abortion, he and others who agree with him on this issue are making a horrible mistake. Imagine a Supreme Court bench full of Hillary nominees!
Mr. Viguerie, I'm afraid your petition may just betray the Conservatives you say have already been betrayed. Let's get our collective Conservative head screwed on straight, shall we? We certainly don't need another Perot episode.

We really have to keep our eye on the ball.
Rudy wouldn't lift a finger to help the pro-abortion crowd. Its cynical but he's simply too good of a politician. His personal beliefs are interesting but not dispositive of how he would deal with this issue.
I'm not carrying Rudy's brief but I'm pretty sure that he was willing to throw the social issues bone to the NY libs and he would just as easily throw conservative bones to us if he were in office.
I think he just wants to shrink gov and kill bad guys in the Middle East and doesn't care about anything else.
1. One to deny that the light bulb needs to be changed
2. One to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb needs to be changed.
3. One to blame Clinton for burning out the light bulb.
4. One to tell the nations of the world that they are either for changing the light bulb or for darkness.
5. One to give a billion dollar no-bid/cost-plus contract to Halliburton for the new light bulb.
6. One to arrange a photograph of Bush, dressed as a janitor, standing on a stepladder under the
banner: "Light Bulb Change Accomplished."
7. One administration insider to resign and write a book documenting in detail how Bush was literally in the dark.
8. One to viciously smear #7.
9. One surrogate to campaign on TV and at rallies on how George Bush has had a strong light bulb changing policy all along.
10. Finally, Joe Lieberman to confuse Americans about the difference between screwing the light bulb and screwing the country.
Sporer, my friend, I couldn't agree with you more! If you threw "ending illegal immigration" into that mix of things that Rudy cares about, he would be a fine candidate in my book.
In return, here's one for you, Anon:
How many Democrats does it take to change a light bulb?
None, Democrats like being in the dark as long as they can blame President Bush for the lack of light.
