TARP Forever? They Vote in 72 Hours!

Will Permanent Bailouts Pass in 72 Hours?
Dear Fellow Tea Party Patriots,

Senator Reid filed for cloture today of Senate Bill 3217, also known as the Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010, introduced by Democrat Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut.  There is a 72 hour window from the time cloture is filed until the time cloture on a bill may be voted.  Cloture must receive 60 votes to keep the bill moving in the Senate for amendments and for the final vote on the bill.  If cloture fails, the bill is stalled if and until the Senate can produce 60 votes in favor of cloture.   CLICK HERE to read the actual 1,421 page bill.

We have received many emails this week telling us how you have been making the calls and sending the emails. Thank you for that!We also have had quite a few people email about their disappointment and frustration with a Congress that is not listening to the will of the people yet again. The emails express fatigue on the part of Tea Party Patriots supporters because the fight continues and continues without a light at the end of the tunnel.

We are hearing your concerns. We are as tired and as frustrated as you. Everyone of us around the country appreciates each of you who are making the calls, sending the faxes and emails despite your weariness and frustration.  You are doing the important work of preserving liberty for future generations.

One thing that may be helpful to each of you who are tired is to try this suggestion for activism over the next few days. On Friday and on Monday, keep making the calls and keep the pressure up. Be unrelenting. Over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, take a break from politics, news, and technology. Enjoy a breath of fresh spring air. Spend time with your family and friends and do your best to keep the conversation away from politics. We each hit a wall occasionally and it is more than acceptable to step away from news and politics for a short breather. Try to stay away from your email, facebook, and other normal online communications. Try shutting your computer completely off (if you normally do not do this) so that you do not hear the whirl of the fans in the computers. Chances are taking this short break, will refresh all of us. We will come back on Monday with renewed energy. Many of us will come back with lots of new ideas.

So, join us again Friday as we keep the pressure up for no votes on Cloture.  Over the weekend, rest, relax, and rejuvenate.  On Monday, we will be back in full swing, remind the politicians they represent us, We the People.

Why Tea Party Patriots is Opposing the Bill and Who to Call

The vast majority of Tea Party Patriots' Local Coordinators from all over the country agreed on our most recent weekly conference call that this is a bad bill and we oppose it

In short it grants permanent, unlimited bailout authority to the Federal Reserve.  It's like TARP forever without the nasty, unpopular debates and votes in Congress.  Beyond that it gives the Fed the power to takeover vaguely defined "nonbank financial companies".  And the Fed has the power to decide what constitutes a "nonbank financial company" on a case by case basis.

Here are some links to a few articles that give a bit more insight into this very, very bad piece of legislation which must be stopped:

So, what can you do?

Four things:

1.) Contact your own Senators first and voice your opposition to this bill.  If possible, physically go in person to the local home offices of your two Senators and speak to someone there who will take note of your opinion and pass it on.  If you're not able to go in person, you can call, email, and fax the offices of both Senators from your state. (Find Your Senators by State on the Senate Website)

2.) Call, email, and fax these 8 Republican Senators who are not yet 100% opposed to this bill:

Bob Bennett of Utah (202) 224-5444

Susan Collins of Maine (202) 224-2523

Christopher Bond of Missouri (202) 224-5721

Saxby Chambliss of Georgia (202) 224-3521

Bob Corker of Tennessee (202) 224-3344

John McCain of Arizona (202) 224-2235

Scott Brown of Massachusetts (202) 224-4543

3.) Write Letters about this issue to your local paper for publication on or before Sunday.  Also leave comments on as many news blogs and websites related to this subject as you can find.

4.) Forward this message to as many people as you can and ask them to take these same 4 steps as soon as possible.  Use the full power of your circle of influence to move others (at least 1 more person) to take action.

Once again it's up to us, you and your fellow Tea Party Patriots, to defend America from out of control government.

Thank you for performing this valuable service for your country!

As the Blog Turns...

Gee. I have found myself fascinated by the soap opera unfolding in the comments section of this blog since last night. One little mention on a controversial Democrat's blog and it's High Noon on ConservaChick! (Yes, I'm laughing while I type this.) For those of you who have no idea what's happening in the ever-expanding comments section , join the club! Here's what I know about Mark Nickolas from bits and pieces I've read on his blog, and from a local news report: Nickolas likes to sneer at Republicans and call them snide little nicknames as he provides his "Unfiltered and Candid Look at Politics, Politicians and the Media in Kentucky;" he raised a ruckus within the Democrat party here in Kentucky by filing a suit against the chairman of the party , Jerry Lundergan; and he will be appearing on the same panel with yours truly on Thursday night. That's about it. You now have the benefit of my not-so-extensive knowledge on this subject. Nickolas poste...

Friday Night with Hugh and Friends

The consummate Conservative host, Hugh Hewitt, and yours truly! Shameless of me to post this, I know; however, I'm too jazzed to care. :-p What a wonderful way to spend a Friday night! After an hour or so wandering through some of the exhibits at the Frazier Historical Arms Museum, I then got to spend three hours with Hugh Hewitt and 599 other fans of his show. I absolutely MUST say that not only was Hugh wonderful and the live show very entertaining, but his fans are absolutely the nicest people! I've seen other radio talk show s done live and mingled with fans of those shows. Hugh Hewitt's fans are the nicest, most down to earth, friendly people I've ever met. It's quite a credit to Hugh that he draws such a fan base. If you haven't been to the Frazier Historical Arms Museum here in Louisville, it's a must-see. The museum shows an amazing artistry with the exhibits and places them in the context of the times in a very entertaining and educationa...

Is conscription the prescription?

US Representative, Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is at it again. Rangel's prescription for fixing the ills we're feeling in Iraq is a draft . I have very mixed feelings about this. Conscription is conscription no matter what you choose to label it. Is that appropriate in a free country? On the flip side of this coin, I've often thought that compulsory national service would be a great idea for American kids right out of high school. It might have been a better start for me than learning to down beer at a Liberal Arts university! Two years in the service might give kids time to think about their future, learn higher levels of responsibility, and begin to take life more seriously. There are many countries who require some level of mandatory military service: Belarus, Chile, China, Croatia, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, our neighbor Mexico, and our old buddy Germany, to name a few. Gee, now that I look at that partial list... aren't many of those countries Socialist or at battl...
