Wow, sorry to have been missing in action for so long! I enjoyed my Thanksgiving break a little too much. I think I'm having trouble getting back into the swing of things again. Reality. What a concept.
I tried something new this holiday -- I unplugged almost completely from the news. The only TV programs I watched were football games and the only thing I read was a spy/adventure novel. I am still surprised that I was able to pull that off. Amazing, for a news junkie like me!
So, while I'm getting caught up on the news again, here's an idea: Christmas and Hannukah are almost here again -- a great time to show the brave men and women of our armed forces (and those of our coalition partners, as well) that you support them. Winds of Change has done an extremely thorough job of collecting information on ways to support the troops. Please take some time and check this out. These guys will be missing their home and families more than usual over the holiday season. Don't underestimate the value of whatever you may choose to do to show your support. Thanks for such a thorough list, Winds!
Last year, I received a list of soldiers who weren't receiving any mail from home. It was a looooooong list, unfortunately. I was able to send Christmas cards to about 80 of them before the season was over. Not that this season is the only time you can send letters, cards, and packages -- they appreciate the show of support from home at any time!
