Tell me again... who doesn't have any friends?

I get so tired of hearing Liberals talk about how the rest of the world hates the US. Guess what, Libs? As so much of your silliness, this is simply untrue. Sure, maybe there are moments of back-biting, some occasionally jealousy, and a "tsk, tsk" or two but, when the chips are down, we have more friends than most of us realize.

Foreign Policy magazine provides a list of countries and what amount of money they've anted up, as well as what type of supplies/personnel they are committing to the recovery effort after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

My faith in the kindness of nations to each other in times of need has been restored. Thank you, FP!

Darling if you think that we, from countries other than the US have donated money to the Katrina relief fund because we like your country, I think that you may be mistaken...we did it out of sheer compassion for the people living through it, not to show that we approve of what your government is doing all over the world. I strongly suggest that you open your eyes and see the reality of things; if you guys could stop thinking it's an ego booster and see it as what it is, aid for those less fortunate, you'd actually see that we're going against the grain of your government who only wants to help out the rich...Shame on you!

Why must EVERY Lib on the planet refuse to put a name to his/her comment? I don't bite, Sweetie. Nor am I ashamed of putting my name to my opinions in a public forum.

Thank you for your affectionate and insightful response, M/M Anonymous. Your insight is valid if your sole point is that "people donated to people in need." You are correct in your simplistic assumption. No argument there.

Where the rest of your commentary falls apart, my Anonymous friend, is: (1) People comprise a country; to help Americans in their time of need is to help our nation in its time of need; the only difference is for non-citizens even though we embrace them as Americans when they're here as well. (2) Our federal government is responsible for getting those donations from other nations where they are needed to best help the victims of Hurricane Katrina; so, in fact, you are entrusting our government to help the poor, now aren't you?

I would suggest you open your mind to reality and do a little homework on the United States. This country provides more opportunity and support for those of our citizens (as well as immigrants) who wish to rise above poverty. Take a look at some statistics before you start labeling our government as one that "only wants to help out the rich." Using a phrase like that simply showcases your blinding ignorance.

Look, just between us, it never hurts to acknowledge a knowledge deficit and work to fix it. Try it. It's oh so liberating! I'll be happy to help you anytime.

I'm wondering why if the rest of the countries of the world hate the U.S so much people keep leaving said countries and coming to the U.S?

Perplexing, isn't it? ;) I only regret that our lazy, no-good Liberals are flocking your way, Anonymous Canadian. My condolences on that. If it gets too horrid, c'mon down and join us!

As the Blog Turns...

Gee. I have found myself fascinated by the soap opera unfolding in the comments section of this blog since last night. One little mention on a controversial Democrat's blog and it's High Noon on ConservaChick! (Yes, I'm laughing while I type this.) For those of you who have no idea what's happening in the ever-expanding comments section , join the club! Here's what I know about Mark Nickolas from bits and pieces I've read on his blog, and from a local news report: Nickolas likes to sneer at Republicans and call them snide little nicknames as he provides his "Unfiltered and Candid Look at Politics, Politicians and the Media in Kentucky;" he raised a ruckus within the Democrat party here in Kentucky by filing a suit against the chairman of the party , Jerry Lundergan; and he will be appearing on the same panel with yours truly on Thursday night. That's about it. You now have the benefit of my not-so-extensive knowledge on this subject. Nickolas poste...

Friday Night with Hugh and Friends

The consummate Conservative host, Hugh Hewitt, and yours truly! Shameless of me to post this, I know; however, I'm too jazzed to care. :-p What a wonderful way to spend a Friday night! After an hour or so wandering through some of the exhibits at the Frazier Historical Arms Museum, I then got to spend three hours with Hugh Hewitt and 599 other fans of his show. I absolutely MUST say that not only was Hugh wonderful and the live show very entertaining, but his fans are absolutely the nicest people! I've seen other radio talk show s done live and mingled with fans of those shows. Hugh Hewitt's fans are the nicest, most down to earth, friendly people I've ever met. It's quite a credit to Hugh that he draws such a fan base. If you haven't been to the Frazier Historical Arms Museum here in Louisville, it's a must-see. The museum shows an amazing artistry with the exhibits and places them in the context of the times in a very entertaining and educationa...

Is conscription the prescription?

US Representative, Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is at it again. Rangel's prescription for fixing the ills we're feeling in Iraq is a draft . I have very mixed feelings about this. Conscription is conscription no matter what you choose to label it. Is that appropriate in a free country? On the flip side of this coin, I've often thought that compulsory national service would be a great idea for American kids right out of high school. It might have been a better start for me than learning to down beer at a Liberal Arts university! Two years in the service might give kids time to think about their future, learn higher levels of responsibility, and begin to take life more seriously. There are many countries who require some level of mandatory military service: Belarus, Chile, China, Croatia, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, our neighbor Mexico, and our old buddy Germany, to name a few. Gee, now that I look at that partial list... aren't many of those countries Socialist or at battl...
