Now THAT'S more like it!

With all of the "no confidence" rhetoric and political manuevering on the Hill lately by Dems, it's apparently for show only. Apparently, there is some actual work being done on securing our nation and better funding our efforts in the war against Islamo-fascism on the Hill these days. Yes, folks, even by the Dems! I'm proud of them for using their heads and their votes rather than their mouths and their imaginations for a change. Thank you, Senators all!

Now, if we can just slap some sense into the military brass who insist on the "good old boy" network of defense contracting, we might just be able to fight and win this war right! Attention on deck, officers -- your employers are watching...

Gee. I have found myself fascinated by the soap opera unfolding in the comments section of this blog since last night. Friday Night with Hugh and Friends

The consummate Conservative host, Hugh Hewitt, and yours truly! Shameless of me to post this, I know; however, I'm too jazzed to care. :-p What a wonderful way to spend a Friday night! After an hour or so wandering through some of the exhibits at the Frazier Historical Arms Museum, I then got to spend three hours with Hugh Hewitt and 599 other fans of his show. I absolutely MUST say that not only was Hugh wonderful and the live show very entertaining, but his fans are absolutely the nicest people! I've seen other radio talk show s done live and mingled with fans of those shows. Hugh Hewitt's fans are the nicest, most down to earth, friendly people I've ever met. It's quite a credit to Hugh that he draws such a fan base. If you haven't been to the Frazier Historical Arms Museum here in Louisville, it's a must-see. Is conscription the prescription?

US Representative, Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is at it again. Rangel's prescription for fixing the ills we're feeling in Iraq is a draft . I have very mixed feelings about this. Conscription is conscription no matter what you choose to label it. Is that appropriate in a free country? On the flip side of this coin, I've often thought that compulsory national service would be a great idea for American kids right out of high school. It might have been a better start for me than learning to down beer at a Liberal Arts university! Two years in the service might give kids time to think about their future, learn higher levels of responsibility, and begin to take life more seriously. There are many countries who require some level of mandatory military service: Belarus, Chile, China, Croatia, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, our neighbor Mexico, and our old buddy Germany, to name a few.
