Indicted blogger Mark Nickolas is just one forgetful fellow. As Vince Tweddell at the State-Journal found out today, all that forgetfulness just seems to be catching up with poor Mr. Nickolas!
With regard to how this active warrant in Fayette County may play to his current three-count indictment, the Commonwealth's Attorney was interviewed by Vince Tweddell and had this to say:... "Mark L. Nickolas, the blogger indicted last week by a Franklin County grand jury, has an active warrant for a 2006 felony charge in Fayette County, district court records there show.
Nickolas, who runs BluegrassReport.org, was charged in May 2006 with theft by failure to make a required disposition, said a clerk at Fayette District Court.
He also didn't appear for his June 28 court proceeding to answer to that charge, which would leave him eligible for arrest if he were stopped by police in that county, said the clerk." ...
... "But those payments were made with a check Nickolas wrote from a non-profit corporate account, Cleveland said. He said covering personal obligation with a check from a non-profit agency 'just doesn't look right to me.'
'That may violate some federal or state statute,' Cleveland said. He also said Nickolas active warrant is something that "gives me a better idea what kind of person I'm dealing with." ...

My opinion on all of the stories about Nickolas's "mistakes can be summed up with one well known phrase from the writings of Sir Walter Scott: Oh! What a tangled web we weave when first we practise to... uh... forget?...

I don't get it! It's kind of sickening to think that newspaper would be so ... unethical in their reporting. Really kind of creepy!
I actually went a step beyond what the H-L is doing and picked up the phone & called the IRS.
I don't understand why the H-L is just leaving unanswered questions out there on THEIR blog unanswered.
Stamper said over the weekend that come Monday morning he would find out if the Felony Warrant was valid ... and yet, he hasn't reported anything. Makes me think Stamper does NOT want anyone to know that the felony warrant is valid.
All the tax statements on his pol watchers could be cleared up and reported if Stamper would just call the IRS and ask them about the allegations that have been posted on Pol Watchers.
Which makes me think, he HAS called the IRS and knows the allegations are correct, or he would have reported otherwise to help his criminal friend out.
So much for H-L credibility. Just like Nickolas, both have lost credibility.
Journalists are supposed to have a keen smell for news. They are supposed to be suspicious all the time. That's what it means to be a journalist.
The editorial board at H-L inadvertantly explained today "why" they don't ask their friend Mark Nickolas hard questions. The Editorial board HATES Fletcher so much that they LOVE anyone and everyone that hates Fletcher too.
Their editorial on J. Deckard's getting the job as exec. dir. KBA makes it sound like Deckard isn't qualified. Well, he is. In fact, the only lawyers that have as much venum for Deckard as H-L is Mark Nickolas' lawyers - imagine that.
The head of the KBA and every attorney that knows Deckard knows that he is very, very ethical and qualified.
HL hates Fletcher so much they are willing to ruin or tarnish a good man's life's work ethics because he happens to have been Council for the Governor and the Chief Justice.
HL & Nickolas think alike. They can't just report the failures of Fletcher, they have to tarnish good people who are just earning an honest living. SHAMEFUL
