As a follow-up to my post regarding the DoD's "truth squad," everyone who is interested in the real news, straight from the folks who ought to know, needs to know that you can get the news directly from CENTCOM. There are many, many successes coming out of Iraq and Afghanistan that aren't deemed newsworthy by the mainstream media because those stories simply don't support the negative picture of our efforts in the Middle East that is being pushed 24x7 by Congress and the media.
Don't wait for the mainstream media to condescend to give this news to you; You can get all the news from CENTCOM directly. Their website has all the news that we're missing on the mainstream airwaves these days. It contains an archive of all of their press releases as well as video/audio clips and their weekly CENTCOM news podcast that is available for download. You can also sign up for a weekly newsletter if you're not much of a "pod person." (I don't listen to podcasts much but that doesn't mean I'm anti-pod; I just prefer to read, I guess.)
If you're pro-victory, like me, there is absolutely one thing we can do here on the homefront. We can keep ourselves well-informed; we can help inform other Americans who are simply not paying attention and are swallowing the media propaganda whole. If that's the least we can do, let's do it. CENTCOM has made it easy for us.
Let's not let the mainstream media and radical Leftists hijack this war and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. In an ironic twist of intent, I'd like to thank The Who for this appropriate sentiment: We won't get fooled again. Not again, not this time.
