CORRECTION: Manhattan (not Louisville) Owes Marcus Luttrell an Apology

Marcus Luttrell is not only a great American patriot, he is also the author of Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10. He honors the memory of his fellow SEALs who lost their lives in Operation Redwing as well as all of our brave men and women in uniform every time he speaks in public. Marcus spoke at the National Rifle Association's Annual Meeting and Exhibits that was held here in Louisville May 16th-20th.

He gave a stirring speech on May 16th which you can see, in full, at the Second Amendment Blog Bash site. As if combat with our enemies abroad weren't enough of an ordeal, Marcus found himself in "combat" the night before his trip to Louisville with some nitwit Liberal in Manhattan. He tells a story about some idiot Liberal who could not seem to leave Marcus alone with his beer in a hotel bar. This story absolutely set my teeth on edge when I saw it in this video. (I would embed the video here if I could but please click on the first link in this paragraph to watch his entire speech.)

As an American, I am embarrassed and appalled at the way this true American patriot, this man who has given more than many Americans could ever imagine and survived to tell us about it, was treated by law enforcement officials in New York City. As if it weren't enough that foreign Muslim extremists turned some of that city's greatest landmarks to rubble, police officers there allowed some foreign a-hole to turn one of our greatest patriots into a jail bird overnight. (Excuse me while I spit.)

Even though I'm appalled and embarrassed, I am not, unfortunately, very surprised. It's not surprising that a Liberal from another country, visiting NYC, felt right at home harassing an American patriot on his own soil. Liberals have been allowing, nay ENCOURAGING outsiders to ridicule our country and our patriots for years now.

At any rate, Marcus, if you ever happen across this post, I hope you'll accept my apology on behalf of patriotic Americans everywhere for the way you were treated in Manhattan on May 15th. The owner of the hotel where you went to the bar to wet your whistle that night, as well as Mayor Bloomberg owe you a very sincere apology for your treatment there.

God bless you and keep you, Marcus, as you struggle to make sense of what you've been through and what it means. You have my heartfelt thanks and admiration for your courage and your willingness to educate Americans on what we ask of our brave troops in wartime.

[Thank you to all who commented to alert me to a very serious geographical error! I checked Glenn Beck's post about that incident and was immediately a ton smarter for it. Thanks again!!]

It was my understanding that his 'run in' with the law occurred before he arrived in town.

Glenn Beck's re-telling of Marcus' tale indicated that he was in Manhattan when the incident at the bar occurred.

That was my understanding also.

Thanks so much for bringing that to my attention, Armed and JR. I sure appreciate it! I wasn't able to see Marcus's speech in person that day nor did I follow up on Glenn Beck's website, unfortunately.

Thank goodness you two were out there paying attention. Some days I can't seem to *buy* an attention span!

You two rock. Thanks again!

As the Blog Turns...

Gee. I have found myself fascinated by the soap opera unfolding in the comments section of this blog since last night. One little mention on a controversial Democrat's blog and it's High Noon on ConservaChick! (Yes, I'm laughing while I type this.) For those of you who have no idea what's happening in the ever-expanding comments section , join the club! Here's what I know about Mark Nickolas from bits and pieces I've read on his blog, and from a local news report: Nickolas likes to sneer at Republicans and call them snide little nicknames as he provides his "Unfiltered and Candid Look at Politics, Politicians and the Media in Kentucky;" he raised a ruckus within the Democrat party here in Kentucky by filing a suit against the chairman of the party , Jerry Lundergan; and he will be appearing on the same panel with yours truly on Thursday night. That's about it. You now have the benefit of my not-so-extensive knowledge on this subject. Nickolas poste...

Friday Night with Hugh and Friends

The consummate Conservative host, Hugh Hewitt, and yours truly! Shameless of me to post this, I know; however, I'm too jazzed to care. :-p What a wonderful way to spend a Friday night! After an hour or so wandering through some of the exhibits at the Frazier Historical Arms Museum, I then got to spend three hours with Hugh Hewitt and 599 other fans of his show. I absolutely MUST say that not only was Hugh wonderful and the live show very entertaining, but his fans are absolutely the nicest people! I've seen other radio talk show s done live and mingled with fans of those shows. Hugh Hewitt's fans are the nicest, most down to earth, friendly people I've ever met. It's quite a credit to Hugh that he draws such a fan base. If you haven't been to the Frazier Historical Arms Museum here in Louisville, it's a must-see. The museum shows an amazing artistry with the exhibits and places them in the context of the times in a very entertaining and educationa...

Is conscription the prescription?

US Representative, Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is at it again. Rangel's prescription for fixing the ills we're feeling in Iraq is a draft . I have very mixed feelings about this. Conscription is conscription no matter what you choose to label it. Is that appropriate in a free country? On the flip side of this coin, I've often thought that compulsory national service would be a great idea for American kids right out of high school. It might have been a better start for me than learning to down beer at a Liberal Arts university! Two years in the service might give kids time to think about their future, learn higher levels of responsibility, and begin to take life more seriously. There are many countries who require some level of mandatory military service: Belarus, Chile, China, Croatia, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, our neighbor Mexico, and our old buddy Germany, to name a few. Gee, now that I look at that partial list... aren't many of those countries Socialist or at battl...
