The "Housing Bailout Bill," which appears to be in appropriate jeopardy, needs to be stopped in its tracks based on the premise alone; however, it has come to light that Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) has added a provision requiring online business to report sensitive customer data to the US government. Businesses such as Amazon, e-Bay, and others would be reporting your data to the IRS if this bill with this provision is passed.
Talk about an invasion of privacy! What purpose is this data supposed to serve? Protecting us against a possible terrorist attack? Uh... nope. Helping provide the necessary national security and infrastructure that the federal government should be providing? Uh... let's see... nope. Keeping this representative republic a place where its citizens are free to pursue life, liberty, and happiness while they worship at the church or their choice (or not)? Gee... I don't think so.
This is the most blatant invasion of privacy by the federal government that I have ever seen! I wondered when it would happen. Given all of the online bill payment services, the detailed transaction statements we receive from our credit card companies, and the ability to move money between accounts with the click of a mouse button. It was bound to happen sooner or later. The shame of it all is that a REPUBLICAN has initiated it. I didn't see that coming. Did you?

"This is a provision with astonishing reach, and it was slipped into the bill just this week. Not only does it affect nearly every credit card transaction in America, such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, but the bill specifically targets payment systems like eBay's PayPal, Amazon, and Google Checkout that are used by many small online businesses. The privacy implications for America's small businesses are breathtaking." -- Dick Armey, Chairman, Freedom Works
