Brown Shirt Obamanation

Courtesy of a Conservative cousin, "Not a Sheep," across the pond in Great Britain, the link on the title of this post presents a harrowing little video comparison that should give you nightmares tonight.

...and just when I thought I might be overreacting a tad, I brought up a Google search page to do some research and what do I find?...

So now President Obama is soliciting questions on the economy via Google for the Whitehouse.gov website. Only, these aren't anonymous questions. You have to register an account to post a question. The site even keeps track of how many you "contribute."

So this is how it begins, eh? Threads of the Big Guy start weaving themselves onto our television screens and into our webpages until the cloth is all his making. We begin to think of any other cloth as "foreign" or "unAmerican" and the next thing you know we're helping him sew right over Old Glory to add the hammer and sickle.

We had press conferences from him when he was the "President Select" (before the Electoral College voted) and then more when he was the "President Elect" with his very own seal. Lately he's been on TV -- 60 Minutes interview, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and his latest prime time press conference -- almost daily while volunteers in the Obama Army knock on doors peddling his budget.

If a giant portrait of him is hung in Times Square or on the National Mall, I won't be the least bit surprised.

Yeah, if this is happening now then Big Brother must be just around the corner. If you have to register to voluntarily ask a question, a Stalinist dictatorship is sure to follow.

We just survived 8 years of the biggest power grab by a chief executive ever and the closest we've ever come to a monarchy in our recent history and you get in a snit over Obama? I've never seen so many whining, cry babies in my life. The people of this country have spoken and you just don't like it. It's that simple. As bad as we "libruls" were with our attacks on Bush, we never, EVER approached the ridiculous attacks that have been mounted against Obama. Just a week ago, Glenn Beck said we were headed for socialism, this week it's fascism. Then he couldn't even define what fascism was! I come here and start seeing how Obama's bringing "the hammer and sickle" and incendiary references to civil war and other wingnut crap. You people need to start loving this country, even as it changes. And you call us "luddites." Bah! Move to Texas with Chuck Norris.

Gee Josh, I would think that open-minded folks would notice subtleties. I suppose not.

Anon,
I think you need to revisit a dictionary. Let me help you with a few definitions:

monarchy [(mon-uhr-kee, mon-ahr-kee)]

A system of government in which one person reigns, usually a king or queen. The authority, or crown, in a monarchy is generally inherited. The ruler, or monarch, is often only the head of state, not the head of government. Many monarchies, such as Britain and Denmark, are actually governed by parliaments. (See absolute monarchy and constitutional monarchy.)

We came no where CLOSE to a monarchy! Just because you and your other "libruhl" pals didn't like the results of the election, Bush became a "theocrat," a "monarch," and "Hitler." Nice.

Look, I've got a deal for you, Mr. Anonymous Hypocrite: I'll be as nice to YOUR president as you were to MINE. (Bah, yourself. Geez.)

PS: Why are you "libruhls" always so damned hateful?

Not hateful. Love you and peaceful. Just disagree. Never, ever would I have ever worn a T-shirt with Bush paired with Hitler. You lose automatically when you play the Hitler card.

(Bush a Theocrat, maybe...grab for executive power..for sure)

You straddle the fence a bit as I read your posts, but as you continue to define your values you might want to see the direction this country, and particularly, your state, is taking.

What's your take on this?

Dawn, this is just a reminder of what YOUR president has stated in the past:

"In a time of war, the president must have the power he needs to make tough decisions, including, if need be, the power to grant himself even more power." -George W. Bush

"If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." -George W. Bush

"I am the commander- see, I don't need to explain- I do not need to explain why I do things. That is the interesting thing about being president." -George W. Bush

Not being mean-spirited, just pointing out the obvious.

-How do you know how a person can FEEL on a computer? Just curious.

My apologies for the very late reply to your question - it slipped my mind, obviously, but after having a nice Saturday afternoon of shooting at Knob Creek this past weekend, I was reminded that I never replied to the most important question in your comment.

"What's your take on this?

I do not straddle any fences when it comes to the principles clearly outlined in the US Constitution. We, as American citizens, are enabled by the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms.

It is necessary and fitting for this country to enable its citizens to protect and defend ourselves and our country. (Not to mention that I enjoy shooting sports so that particular amendment is near and dear to me.)

We are free NOW but, if we're not careful, it may not always be so. Thanks to our founding fathers, we have the right to protect and defend our own freedom. We're good at it.

The Nazi crap is common at big gatherings at KCGR. The mainstream news outlets like to publicize those idiots every time there are machine gun shoots at Knob Creek.

Those of us who are big Second Amendment advocates are used to seeing that nonsense. As a Conservative, I understand the meaning of "individual" and I tolerate everyone's right to express himself as he sees fit. Unfortunately, Liberals like to group and label crowds so we get lumped in with that garbage.

Want to understand Conservatism? Drop the desire to label us fascists and take a look at Barry Goldwater's ideology, Ayn Rand's writings, and the concept of individuality. Then, you will truly understand the empowerment of our Constitution and Conservatism.

As the Blog Turns...

Gee. I have found myself fascinated by the soap opera unfolding in the comments section of this blog since last night. One little mention on a controversial Democrat's blog and it's High Noon on ConservaChick! (Yes, I'm laughing while I type this.) For those of you who have no idea what's happening in the ever-expanding comments section , join the club! Here's what I know about Mark Nickolas from bits and pieces I've read on his blog, and from a local news report: Nickolas likes to sneer at Republicans and call them snide little nicknames as he provides his "Unfiltered and Candid Look at Politics, Politicians and the Media in Kentucky;" he raised a ruckus within the Democrat party here in Kentucky by filing a suit against the chairman of the party , Jerry Lundergan; and he will be appearing on the same panel with yours truly on Thursday night. That's about it. You now have the benefit of my not-so-extensive knowledge on this subject. Nickolas poste...

Friday Night with Hugh and Friends

The consummate Conservative host, Hugh Hewitt, and yours truly! Shameless of me to post this, I know; however, I'm too jazzed to care. :-p What a wonderful way to spend a Friday night! After an hour or so wandering through some of the exhibits at the Frazier Historical Arms Museum, I then got to spend three hours with Hugh Hewitt and 599 other fans of his show. I absolutely MUST say that not only was Hugh wonderful and the live show very entertaining, but his fans are absolutely the nicest people! I've seen other radio talk show s done live and mingled with fans of those shows. Hugh Hewitt's fans are the nicest, most down to earth, friendly people I've ever met. It's quite a credit to Hugh that he draws such a fan base. If you haven't been to the Frazier Historical Arms Museum here in Louisville, it's a must-see. The museum shows an amazing artistry with the exhibits and places them in the context of the times in a very entertaining and educationa...

Is conscription the prescription?

US Representative, Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is at it again. Rangel's prescription for fixing the ills we're feeling in Iraq is a draft . I have very mixed feelings about this. Conscription is conscription no matter what you choose to label it. Is that appropriate in a free country? On the flip side of this coin, I've often thought that compulsory national service would be a great idea for American kids right out of high school. It might have been a better start for me than learning to down beer at a Liberal Arts university! Two years in the service might give kids time to think about their future, learn higher levels of responsibility, and begin to take life more seriously. There are many countries who require some level of mandatory military service: Belarus, Chile, China, Croatia, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, our neighbor Mexico, and our old buddy Germany, to name a few. Gee, now that I look at that partial list... aren't many of those countries Socialist or at battl...
