Have a peek for yourself, folks.

Read the Bill for yourself. Stay up-to-date and informed. Attend your local town hall meetings during the August recess to ask questions about this bill. Whatever you do, do it armed with knowledge, do it with the understanding that, even though they may think otherwise, your elected representatives work for YOU.

If you sit idly by, uneducated and unengaged, here's a glimpse of your future...

...yep. It actually *is* scary.

The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) on the world’s health systems ranks the U.S #38. Just ahead of previously war torn Slovenia (#39). BTW: France (#1); Italy (#2); Spain (#7); United Kingdom (#18); Canada (#30)

On CIA World Factbook (estimates), the U.S. overall life expectancy ranks at #45 life expectancy: 78.06. BTW: France #8 (life expectancy: 80.87); Canada #14 (life expectancy: 80.34); Italy #16 (life expectancy: 79.94); Spain #19 (life expectancy: 79.78); United Kingdom #37 (life expectancy: 78.7)

The Center for Disease Control (C.D.C.) says the U.S. ranks 29th in the world for infant mortality rates, behind most other developed nations.

We pay the most for our health care and receive the least. We need a public option/universal-care. It has already been proven in most other developed nations.

Anonymous, maybe the Liberal sheeple in your circle of comrades see life expectancy numbers and WHO/CDC ranking numbers as proof that the United States needs a government-owned, government-run universal health care scheme. It takes some logic to convince anyone outside of the sheeple you know...

Conservatives are MUCH sharper than that, my friend. We understand that the factors that go into calculating life expectancies have nothing to do with health insurance. Check it out for yourself, Anonymous. If I were you, I'd stop spouting off stats that mean nothing in a debate that means everything. This debate will ultimately determine the weight of the chains Americans (both old and yet unborn) will wear for the rest of our natural lives, no matter how many years they span.

Poor Dawn,

I know, I know I am a communist (comrade?),

-everyone is lying (WHO, CIA, CDC, etc),

-the numbers/factors have nothing to do with health insurance,

-you guys are the only ones that "get" the health-care problem,

"they" are coming to take your freedom away, scare, scare, scare, scare...

Typical right-wing tatics. We've been there, done that.

Similar tatics were used in 1935 when we installed S.S. and again in 1965 for medicare (btw, both socialist programs), yet I don't hear you or any right-winger calling for the repeal of those acts. We both know it won't happen and we both know why (they work!).

Today, we need health-care reform. We need a public option. We need to break the death-grip that the Insurance Industry has on this country (economy), and on our health. Other countries have proven that the public option works!

As I stated before, the US pays the most for health-care and receives the least (unless you are rich). Doing nothing will only make the problem worse. That is a fact!

Or, to put all this another way:

Have you ever traveled on one our PUBLIC roads? Perhaps in your past, you have enrolled in one of our fine PUBLIC schools? Have you used our PUBLIC postal system recently? Have you ever been in need for one of our great PUBLIC servants (police/firemen)?

If you said yes to any of these questions, then:

YOU.

ARE.

A.

SOCIALIST!!!

(We are all products of the evil socialist state.)

...and yet... here we are!

LOL!!!!

Despite all, I still have hope for ya Dawn! Hang in there little camper!

Comrade Anonymous,

Surrender your hope at the door of this blog. No one here needs hope. I am not now, nor have I ever been a socialist!

National defense, the national postal service, and public schools were all a part of the Founding Fathers' plan for this country. They were meant to be a part of the glue that holds the union and its people together in safety. As for the national/public roads, well, I'm game. I like them and I don't mind paying taxes for them.

All of that doesn't make me a socialist any more than it makes you a Constitutional Scholar, Anonymous. Nice try but it was written into the Constitution and therefore it is not socialist -- it's part of the deal.

For the record, not everyone lies. The truth is a layered thing; however, most of the UN-based, Democrat/Socialist-based organizations cloak their facts in ambiguity. Take them for whatever they're worth to you. They are worth nothing to me.

As for this statement:
"...yet I don't hear you or any right-winger calling for the repeal of those acts. We both know it won't happen and we both know why (they work!)."

I would absolutely (and you can quote me on this) LOVE to have our Federal government repeal every bit of the socialist nonsense that was enacted decades ago (Medicare, Medicaid)! Contrary to your uneducated opinion, they do *not* work. They are bankrupt; as it our federal government, in case you hadn't noticed. The government is nothing but the hind teat of a dead cow and none of our citizens should ever feel the need to suck on it!

Yes. Feel free to quote me on that.

Do you realize, Anonymous, how much of your freedom you surrender to suck at that teat? Do you understand that many independent and liberty-loving Americans do not EVER want to surrender their freedom to work on Uncle Sam's plantation?...

Wake up and smell the coffee, Anonymous. Liberalism is a recipe for slavery. It really *is* that simple. We are in debt up to the eyeballs of our unborn in this country. You may want to subjugate your progeny to it but I do not.

I don't know about you but I certainly DO NOT pay the most for my healthcare and I am absolutely ECSTATIC at the quality and quantity of care I receive. Spout other folks statistics all you like but I am basing my opinion on what I know -- American healthcare ROCKS and I couldn't be happier about it!

Dawn, Dawn, Dawn,

Where in the Constitution does it promise federal: police, firemen, schools, roads? We could argue about the postal system, and I said nothing of national defense.

Again, if you said yes to any of the questions (which you did), then YOU ARE A SOCIALIST. Simply stating that you are not a socialist AND THEN BENEFIT FROM THE PROGRAMS doesn't get it. It does however (with all due respect) make you a h-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e.

Now, contrary to your "educated opinion" Medicare, Medicaid, S.S. DO work. People use/depend on these programs everyday. Just ask the eldery. Do you know how our elderly folks use to live before these programs? I think not. If you did, I'm sure you would have a different opinion about ending these programs.

And as far as our debt goes, I guess we as a country are going to have to grow-up and become responsible for our bills. Tax cuts (the right-wingnuts rallying cry) was never the answer. If we want nice things (like say roads) then we have to pay for them (rasing taxes). They are not free. Simple.

Back in the fifties early sixties during the greatest expansion in our nation's history our tax rate was +90%. You see Dawn, back in those days we paid our bills, we were not deadbeats.

"I don't know about you but I certainly DO NOT pay the most for my health-care and I am absolutely ECSTATIC at the quality and quantity of care I receive."

LOL!!! Dawn, Dawn, Dawn. Sweetheart you do pay the most whether you know it or not. Plus you are paying for other peoples health-care whether you know it or not. Besides, don't you realize that what ever you are paying now is projected to double in about a year. 14,000 people A DAY go into bankruptcy because of health-care and that number will rise. No one, left or right, is happy with the status quo. Health-care will change. What type of change is what is in question.

Oops, make that:

"14,000 people A DAY lose their health-care coverage and some are forced into bankruptcy. That number will rise".

Sorry, it was late when I posted.

As the Blog Turns...

Gee. I have found myself fascinated by the soap opera unfolding in the comments section of this blog since last night. One little mention on a controversial Democrat's blog and it's High Noon on ConservaChick! (Yes, I'm laughing while I type this.) For those of you who have no idea what's happening in the ever-expanding comments section , join the club! Here's what I know about Mark Nickolas from bits and pieces I've read on his blog, and from a local news report: Nickolas likes to sneer at Republicans and call them snide little nicknames as he provides his "Unfiltered and Candid Look at Politics, Politicians and the Media in Kentucky;" he raised a ruckus within the Democrat party here in Kentucky by filing a suit against the chairman of the party , Jerry Lundergan; and he will be appearing on the same panel with yours truly on Thursday night. That's about it. You now have the benefit of my not-so-extensive knowledge on this subject. Nickolas poste...

Friday Night with Hugh and Friends

The consummate Conservative host, Hugh Hewitt, and yours truly! Shameless of me to post this, I know; however, I'm too jazzed to care. :-p What a wonderful way to spend a Friday night! After an hour or so wandering through some of the exhibits at the Frazier Historical Arms Museum, I then got to spend three hours with Hugh Hewitt and 599 other fans of his show. I absolutely MUST say that not only was Hugh wonderful and the live show very entertaining, but his fans are absolutely the nicest people! I've seen other radio talk show s done live and mingled with fans of those shows. Hugh Hewitt's fans are the nicest, most down to earth, friendly people I've ever met. It's quite a credit to Hugh that he draws such a fan base. If you haven't been to the Frazier Historical Arms Museum here in Louisville, it's a must-see. The museum shows an amazing artistry with the exhibits and places them in the context of the times in a very entertaining and educationa...

Is conscription the prescription?

US Representative, Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is at it again. Rangel's prescription for fixing the ills we're feeling in Iraq is a draft . I have very mixed feelings about this. Conscription is conscription no matter what you choose to label it. Is that appropriate in a free country? On the flip side of this coin, I've often thought that compulsory national service would be a great idea for American kids right out of high school. It might have been a better start for me than learning to down beer at a Liberal Arts university! Two years in the service might give kids time to think about their future, learn higher levels of responsibility, and begin to take life more seriously. There are many countries who require some level of mandatory military service: Belarus, Chile, China, Croatia, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, our neighbor Mexico, and our old buddy Germany, to name a few. Gee, now that I look at that partial list... aren't many of those countries Socialist or at battl...
