Jim DeMint Endorsement of Rand Paul

Jim DeMint, on behalf of his "Senate Conservatives Fund," is endorsing and helping to raise campaign funds for Rand Paul! Yea!

Here's his message:

I'm proud to announce the next Senate Conservatives Fund endorsement, which goes to Dr. Rand Paul in Kentucky.

The primary for U.S. Senate in Kentucky is on Tuesday, May 18 so we have just two weeks to do everything we can help push him on to victory.

Rand Paul has been married to his loving wife, Kelley, for 19 years and they have three boys.

Rand is a career doctor, not a politician. His entrance into politics is indicative of his life's work: a desire to diagnose problems and provide practical solutions.

I had a chance to sit down with Rand last summer and I can tell you that he is one of the brightest, most principled candidates running this year. He is the kind of leader who will stand up to the Washington establishment to fight for our liberty.

Rand has been running on the issues that matter since the beginning of this campaign. He's a strong advocate for balanced budgets, he wants to end the culture of earmarks, he supports term limits, and he's 100% pro-life.

Rand is exactly the kind of leader Americans are looking for right now. He's not a career politician and he's got the guts to stand up to the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are being forced on us in Washington.

I hope you will join me in supporting Dr. Rand Paul's bid for the U.S. Senate. Please make a contribution today to help us reach our goal of raising $50,000 for his campaign. These funds will help him get his conservative message out in the final days of this race.

This is very important because the Washington establishment has lined up against him. The DC crowd fears him because he doesn't owe them anything and cannot be intimidated.

We've already seen a number of dishonest attacks against Rand's conservative record, and it's critical that he get the resources to fight back.

To show you how serious this is, James Dobson recently reversed his endorsement for Rand's opponent and threw his full weight behind Rand because he had been mislead by the establishment about Rand's pro-life record. Click here to listen to Dobson's endorsement.

This is what happens when true conservatives run for office. They get attacked by progressives in both parties. But we're not going to let them get away with it.

Please join me, along with Senator Jim Bunning, Governor Sarah Palin, Steve Forbes, and James Dobson, in supporting Dr. Rand Paul for U.S. Senate.

Together, we can win this race and continue our campaign to take back our country one race at a time.

Sincerely,

Jim DeMint
United States Senator
Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund

As the Blog Turns...

Gee. I have found myself fascinated by the soap opera unfolding in the comments section of this blog since last night. One little mention on a controversial Democrat's blog and it's High Noon on ConservaChick! (Yes, I'm laughing while I type this.) For those of you who have no idea what's happening in the ever-expanding comments section , join the club! Here's what I know about Mark Nickolas from bits and pieces I've read on his blog, and from a local news report: Nickolas likes to sneer at Republicans and call them snide little nicknames as he provides his "Unfiltered and Candid Look at Politics, Politicians and the Media in Kentucky;" he raised a ruckus within the Democrat party here in Kentucky by filing a suit against the chairman of the party , Jerry Lundergan; and he will be appearing on the same panel with yours truly on Thursday night. That's about it. You now have the benefit of my not-so-extensive knowledge on this subject. Nickolas poste...

Is conscription the prescription?

US Representative, Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is at it again. Rangel's prescription for fixing the ills we're feeling in Iraq is a draft . I have very mixed feelings about this. Conscription is conscription no matter what you choose to label it. Is that appropriate in a free country? On the flip side of this coin, I've often thought that compulsory national service would be a great idea for American kids right out of high school. It might have been a better start for me than learning to down beer at a Liberal Arts university! Two years in the service might give kids time to think about their future, learn higher levels of responsibility, and begin to take life more seriously. There are many countries who require some level of mandatory military service: Belarus, Chile, China, Croatia, Serbia, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, our neighbor Mexico, and our old buddy Germany, to name a few. Gee, now that I look at that partial list... aren't many of those countries Socialist or at battl...
